Mon, May 26, 2008 - 8:59 PMI absolutely love mushrooms of all kinds except morels. I've just recently cut them up thinly and put them into risotto and enjoyed them more.

Mon, May 12, 2008 - 2:24 PMYUM! I have always wanted to try Morels. They are so expensive in the store though, I have a hard time justifying the purchase just to give them a try. My roomate of several years ago came back from hiking with a nice size paper sack full of them, she sauteed them up with butter and garlic , but ended up burning the garlic so they were pretty inedible. :( at least she didnt pay 14 $ per pound for them at the market though!

Re: morels
Wed, May 21, 2008 - 4:02 PMI normally go mushrooming several times a year, and no matter what mushrooms I get, I always make fresh mushroom risotto. Yum! I've made it with morels (which are just about to come into season in the burn areas of the mountains where I live : ) ) chanterels, hedgehog mushrooms, chanterels, chicken of the woods, and lobster mushrooms.
Speaking of which, my boyfriend and I stumbled across a large patch of oyster mushrooms in the woods this weekend. they became wonderful omelette's.
Everyone should get out into the woods (or fields) to mushroom, just be sure to bring a good guide with you.
